Bringing the seasons indoors at Marmion House

One of my favourite parts of LuvShifting Flowers is creating botanical installations for restaurants, cafés and retail spaces. Flowers and plants have the power to completely transform an environment, encouraging people to slow down, look around and enjoy the space they’re in.

Marmion House has given me the wonderful opportunity to do exactly that.

A conversation that started it all

Back in 2019, before the world changed with the pandemic, this beautiful Southsea building was taken over by Jasmine and Craig.

I’d watched the building for years. It had long been part of the local community, and I was excited to see what it might become.

One day, I simply knocked on the door.

I introduced myself as a local florist who lived just around the corner and said that if they ever needed help bringing flowers or botanical installations into the space, I’d love to work with them.

Sometimes, that’s all it takes.

Building something together

When Marmion House opened its doors, I was thrilled to be invited to create the first seasonal displays.

The brief was wonderfully simple: celebrate the character of the building while enhancing its incredible windows and light-filled interior.

From that very first installation, Jasmine and Craig placed their trust in my creativity, giving me the freedom to develop designs that evolve with the seasons.

It’s a collaboration I genuinely treasure.

Celebrating every season

Since then, every new season has brought a fresh opportunity to transform the restaurant.

From vibrant tropical displays bursting with colour, to autumnal foliage filled with rich textures, through to festive installations layered with natural materials and twinkling lights, each design has been created to complement the changing atmosphere of the restaurant while always feeling unmistakably Marmion House.

One of the greatest compliments I’ve ever received came from a regular customer who said:

“You know the seasons are about to change because Nia brings the colour.”

Jasmine also says ..

“Working with Nia has become one of the things our customers look forward to each season. Her installations completely transform the restaurant and always give people something to talk about.”
